The dePaul Story
Empowering Students with Dyslexia to Thrive—in School, and in Life.

Our Pillars of Impact
Through three distinct pillars—a K–8 school, community outreach and support, and educator consulting and training—we’re reshaping how dyslexia is understood and supported across Florida and beyond.

A full-time K–8 school program empowering students with dyslexia to thrive
Every child deserves to feel confident in the classroom. Our expert educators understand how students with dyslexia learn.
Using the Orton-Gillingham approach, we provide individualized instruction in reading, writing, and more — in an environment where students are known, seen, and supported.

Awareness, early screening, and support to families who don’t yet have a diagnosis.
For many families, we are the first step on a journey they didn’t expect.
We offer free community screenings, and low-cost 1-1 appointments are available on site for families who want a more personalized evaluation.
Bringing clarity, compassion, and direction to parents wanting to help their child.

Empowering more educators and institutions to teach all learners effectively.
We help other schools do better for students with dyslexia. Through teacher training, curriculum guidance, and school partnerships, we expand the reach of structured literacy.
We share what works, and help teachers implement proven practices that change outcomes — not just for a few students, but for entire classrooms.
Our Story

What began as a small, specialized school has grown into a movement.
dePaul was founded in 1983 with a single purpose: to change the trajectory for children who struggle to read and write. Since then, dePaul has been a haven for children who learn differently, not because they’re broken, but because the system wasn’t built for their brilliance.
Back then, too many bright kids were falling through the cracks - misunderstood, mislabeled, and left behind. We believed they deserved more.
That belief became our mission: to give students with dyslexia the tools, the teachers, and the trust they need to succeed.
Over the decades, we’ve grown. But our heart remains the same

Today, dePaul has evolved into The dePaul Dyslexia Group.
Our family of programs empowers students, equips educators, and engages families.
Our reach now extends far beyond our original Clearwater campus. We partner with families, schools, and communities to make early identification, effective instruction, and lifelong empowerment a reality for every student we serve.
Our students don’t just catch up—they thrive. They read. They speak up. They lead.
They learn how their brains work and how to advocate for themselves. And they grow into confident, capable young people with a love of learning and a belief in their future.
