Kindergarten
Laying the Foundation of ConfidenceKindergarten is often a child’s first real experience of school, and for students with early signs of dyslexia or related learning differences, that experience matters. At dePaul, we make sure it’s one of growth, joy, and belonging.
Our full-day Kindergarten program offers a safe, structured, and nurturing environment tailored to young learners who benefit from early, intentional support.
From day one, students begin building the literacy, social-emotional, and self-regulation skills that will support their learning journey for years to come.

How You Start Matters
For students with dyslexia, early school experiences shape their confidence for years to come. At dePaul, we make sure that the start is positive, intentional, and full of possibility.

The Power of Early Intervention
Children don't outgrow dyslexia—but with the right instruction, they can outpace its limitations. At dePaul, Kindergarten isn’t about waiting and seeing. It’s about acting early and teaching differently.
Individualized instruction begins on day one, and progress is celebrated every step of the way.
Our educators use multisensory, phonics-based instruction aligned with the Orton-Gillingham approach to help students:
- Build phonemic awareness
- Map sounds to symbols
- Develop early decoding skills
- Grow vocabulary through language-rich exploration

A Whole-Child Approach to Learning
We know that reading success starts with more than just letters and sounds. That’s why our Kindergarten day also emphasizes:
- Regulation & Routines – Predictable structure helps students feel secure and ready to learn
- Social Learning – Small groups foster cooperation, language development, and peer connection
- Play-Based Discovery – Numeracy, fine motor skills, and executive functioning are built through movement and hands-on learning
- Therapy Integration – When needed, speech and OT support are embedded into the day for continuity and care
- Parent Partnership – Ongoing communication helps families feel empowered, informed, and supported
